Comics as an art form

Comic strips and sketches can be found in most daily newspapers in Britain today, over the years characters such as Andy Capp have become a firm favourite with people of all ages. Comic strips appeal to all ages, for adults there is the comic Viz which is popular with young men, and for children there are comics like the Beano and the Dandy which have stood the test of time and are still popular with children to this day. The Beano was first published in 1938, characters such as Dennis the Menace, Minnie the Minx and Desperate Dan became household names. Most of these comics are published weekly but many people just choose to buy the annual come Christmas time.

Comics made the progression from magazine to the big screen in the early 1990’s with comics characters such as Garfield hitting the big screen, and the children loved it. Garfield memorabilia hit the shops next, stuffed toys, pencils, note pads, pens you name it Garfield was on it. Dennis the Menace was made into a feature film with a little boy playing Dennis and bringing the character to life.

From the big screen it is a natural progression for these films to be put onto DVD or video. In the past if you wanted to rent a DVD and enjoy it on DVD movie screens (http://www.exclusiv-home.de….Heimkino.htm) you would have to join a video or DVD library, go to the shop and hope that the DVD which you wanted was available. If it was not then you would have to rent another or go home empty handed. This has all changed, it is now easy to get the DVD you want with DVD rental ( DVD Verleih ) online. The customer simply chooses the DVD they want to rent, pay for it and then the company will mail out the DVD films ( DVD Filme ) of choice. It is then up to the customer to post it back. Simple and makes life far easier.

So children can still enjoy both reading comics such as the Beano or they can watch them on DVD, and this online mailing service makes mums life much easier.
